After a long hiatus, the yearning yearns ...
Photography I meant.
Photography was something I accidentally bumped into, thanks to my late father. I still consider him a better photographer than me. His black and white travel photos still awes and amazes me. Now the only camera I've is my little trusty cell phone.
My first camera, my father's actually, was a Yashica MG1. I don't think you would've heard of this little gizmo not unless you're from the yesteryears of time. It's a simple range finder camera. All you do is see, focus and shoot. You get good pictures. This was when SLRs were UNHEARD off.
Then came SLRs. WOW. One look I knew then this is something I can't afford. The prices of those handsome gadgets were a bomb back then. And not forgetting the magic filters and lenses that went along with it. All I could do was go "window 'camera' shopping" and stare at it like a kid wanting a Popsicle candy. Then, time caught up with me and warped me into a 9 to 5 nerdy. For a span of 2 years I saved all the money I could and went out there and handsomely got myself a Nikon 301 SLR. Back then I suppose owning a Nikon was a cool dude thing.
The purchase was timely as a few weeks later I was invited to travel to Europe. I got my leave from my job, packed my bag and with my new Nikon, jetted off to PHOTOGRAPH Europe and all its splendour for a cool spring/summer 6 weeks holiday. I must have taken on film hundreds of pictures on that one trip. It was kinda like 'Have Nikon Will Travel' journey.
But alas to all that, there was pain to this feeling. Photography was burning holes into my wallet. Films, processing and prints were expensive back then. So were monochromes. Then one day, I saw an ad in the papers of a new model in the market called DSLR.
My photography journey died that very day. There was no way I'm going to own one of those cheeky sleek DSLR models let alone learn all about digital stuff. I gave up easily. Much too easily in fact and made no haste in getting cooked up with computers instead. A wise choice I was told by many but my inner silent soul always had a soft spot for photography. I wanted to capture moments. I wanted to own those sunset silhouettes. I wanted to make the wind freeze. I just wanted one Kodak moment. It never happened. Money was the root of that. More so I wanted to see the world through my lens.
After the emergence of DSLRs my Nikon became stale and not much of an use to me anymore. I still keep both the cameras with me for remembrance. Once in a while I take them out and dust off the gossamer and stare at it only later to put it back and frown. My passion somewhat died and I totally forgot about photography for a very very long time until recently.
One day, I strolled into Low Yatt plaza and bumped into a array of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras all lined up like pretty maids in a row. The sight was mouth-watering...to me that is. The better of my curiosity won and I zoomed in to take a closer look. WoW is all I can say.
The range of Canon and Nikon cameras looks tempting. How they've transformed! So here I'm now not knowing if I should start back my old 'golden' hobby or to let it pass by me and never flinch on the craving ever.

My Neighbour ..Oh God!
This is about my neighbour, a 40 something "up-to-date" former bar captain lady divorcee who currently works for a wealthy non-resident Aussie in Kuala Lumpur as a maid / helper / domestic worker...god knows what.
SCENE : MASJID JAMEK LRT station.
Me, waiting to catch the LRT train home.
Neighbour : (Ah! she sees me), Ohh you also going home!
I was reluctant to say yes but before I could even muster to utter...she continued.
I also going home. You know I also just finish my work. I work at you know near KLCC, the penthouse. Very big. My boss bought it.
I was about to say ok but she wasn't finished.
My boss is a Aussie/Chinese you know. He always wear chinchai chinchai clothing. He is rich but he is always like that la. You know la rich people sometimes don't like to show. (me wondering why you telling me all this).
I also now chinchai-chinchai wear. (me thinking - then don't wear anything lor). No need to be so modern...after all we all working everyday ma.
I look after his apartment. I work from morning to evening that one also only when my boss is in Kuala Lumpur.
I actually cook for him also. Bodek bodek a bit. He like nasi lemak heheheh.
I also cook there for myself and eat and sometimes if I am tired I don't go home. If my boss not in, I stay there. You know big apartment, got swimming pool sommore...
You know he leave so much money in the house. Everywhere. I always kutip kutip and put in the cash box. I ... ( the rantings went on ...)
Yesterday, I took all my clothes and went over there to wash in the washing machine. I also dry there. So big the washing machine. Free water sommore... (goodness!)
Me - still listening to her (no choice) and waiting for the god-damn train to arrive. This is the time the train will move at tortoise pace.
Neighbour : You know now my daughter work in Sabah sometime Sarawak. (a big fat lie). So most time she not in. So I stay here if my boss not in. Go home also no one to TALK to. (she giggled)
Sometimes my boss go away on business trips and he don't come back for 10 days. You know this people got so much money always go holiday.
The train comes in and we board. I quickly find a spot by the end of the seat hoping she will go find a seat elsewhere but NO. She follows and sits beside me...Ohh! dear...
(she continues)...I like the apartment. So very modern and all the you know the pinggan mangguk all come from Italy.
I actually like to work here. So much freedom. Everybody think I am Philipino. The security guard say I look Philipino.
At this moment I really wanted to correct her - it's Phlipina and NOT Phlipino but ...
Neighbour : The other day my former boss, his name Devan call me. He ask about my work la. He ask me if I am happy or not...I say ok la. I ...
Now my water bill RM130. I also don't know how. So expensive.
Heheheh..you know I went to Pavilion the other day and bought dress for me la....always wear the same dress sure my boss will ask one day. Don't know if my daughter like or not...
You know the other day the security guard ask me .......
Since now I am not working full time, my daughter....
I now take care of all his petty cash. He put his money all over the apartment. I use the money and buy some food. Sometimes I buy grocery. I always give my boss all the receipts when he is come back. I don't want to be like the Philipino. They always steal money and go jalan-jalan. My boss don't like them. The previous one he chase away.
I think he like my cooking and always ask me to cook. So I cook sometimes ikan ....(aiyoo...I really don't wana know la..PLEASE LA)
The train arrives at our station and we both alight.
Actually I want to buy car, but you know car must pay petrol, service. So better take train, no jam easy sommore. My boss also like the train.
2 minutes before reaching our apartment.
Now I am also doing business. Food business with the Malay lady married to a Chinese guy selling nasi lemak at the corner. Ok la cari makan sikit...
Sometimes I also like the happy go lucky la...if got income I don't mind as long as I can keep moving la. Got bills to pay. My daughter also earning a lot but I don't want to disturb her. Dat one her problem. (daughter works!! greatest lie ever told)
We both reached the front doors of our apartment and she hasn't finished yet.
You know, yesterday my friends from the other apartment told me about the business she open in the new food court in Boustead. I...
This went on for a few more minutes and I'm still standing in front of our apartment listening. ( don't know how to excuse my self..............)
From the time she met me at the LRT station and till I got home to open my front door...SHE NEVER GAVE ME A CHANCE TO OPEN MY MOUTH EVEN TO SAY A HI.
It was all about I this, I that, I this, I that, I... I... I.... and the never ending I.
The only thing on my mind was : What was God thinking when He created women to torture us men.
Ohh! God, don't you have any mercy at all on us men.

still not late to rewrite history ....
Maverick Historian says "Hang Li Po, Hang Tuah did not exist’
“History must be based on empirical records. Historians must only accept written records,” he said, adding that empirical records available here were at best “skanky”.
“There's no evidence in the Malaysian records,” he said. “These are stories. Early Malaysian history is based on stories.”
“We've had many stories. Only recently historians have taken the trouble to research the early Malaysian history period. A lot of stories accepted in the past cannot be proven."
UNQUOTE
My say - Malaysian history is a whole load of bunkum rubbish smeared with human farce on racism and bigotry.
Salient Points GE13 run-up ...
Points to ponder :
The dates above are actually guidelines for one to know when exactly the reputed to be "mother-of-all elections" is going to take place.
Lots of talks and more talks are moving around the country, with PKR having road-shows and gatherings attracting tens of thousands of people in attendance. I don't see that happening when UMNO does its road show. Or maybe they think it's rather a bit too early to go out and poison the minds of the "rakyat'.
Come what may - the polls is polls, see you at the polls.
- From now till April 28, 2013 - end date of Parliament session.
- GE13 polls must be held before June 28, 2013 - two months after Parliament is dissolved.
- GE13 "to be held" before September, 2012 - before UMNO General assembly elections.
