Today, we officially transition into HP and call ourselves Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services or HPES [the abbreviation/acronym is banned.] No hampers if you can guess why.
Before, we were called Electronic Data Systems or EDS.
There was a time when I told my ex-colleague I work for EDS. He said, “What!”
“EDS la ...EDS.”
He grinned “Ohhh!...I know I know...fondly called IDIOTS...rite”
YEA…RITE!
A chatter over YM when told of HP, said, “You work for Hush Puppies…Ahhh.”
Can’t imagine me working for Hush Puppies. Then again, maybe I might for a million dollars.
Anyway, I’m now Part of HP - the whole gambit and stuff is.
The company I joined initially is now HISTORY though we made billions and won IT contracts the world over – including CIMB Bank. I’m not too happy with the takeover, face lift and the name change. I’d rather have the old name and company back as it was cosier working for them even though the staff are the same. We lost some of our better fringe benefits after the takeover. DAMN!
The only thing I see good in HP [hopefully] – buy HP products for a cheaper price. This I've yet to go-look-see in the website. Need to figure out where.
Anyway, the year is at its tail end (almost). I’m trying to work out my 2010 resolutions but am a bit skeptical as none turns out the way I plan/devise/aspire.
The ones of this year, the majority of the wish-hit-list never got started let alone left ground or smolder. A faint aspiration.
And I do know there are many out there who in many ways {sorta} achieved or managed to resolute their resolutions.
And there are far too many who have yet to….some are trying the ones they made some ten years ago…. others maybe since birth. :-)
I think it’s a bit premature to pour out the resolution issues now. I’ll come back to this topic ..say towards the end of December.
++ there’s a rumour of another takeover round the corner. I prefer that one…to be honest.
Time to brood.
