Now Ballet is banned?.. what's next?

“Malaysia denies permit for a Singapore dance troupe to perform The Nutcracker and other ballet works due to concerns about “indecent” costumes, media in both countries reported.

Ballet costumes have always been “indecent”, in fact the world over. The lucidity and the gyrations of the dance is what makes ballet so unique, thus telling a story with music. Ballet is profound as a song is to its tune and have you ever wondered how long it takes a ballerina to perform ballet on stage even to a half filled auditorium?

Why the fuss?

They're many ballet schools and academies in Malaysia, so don’t you think theses academies should be banned too unless those learning ballet are doing it in Baju Melayu or Sarees or even in pajamas. I don't know. You tell me. 

In case your aren’t an ardent fan of the theater,- in Malaysia there aren’t much of those anyway but there are Malaysians who seek such entertainment. Me one of them. We aren't caveman you know! And in case you're still ignorant on this topic, how is it any theatrical play in “Melayu” is okay even with the use of "keris”, “parang" or even God forbid a tomahawk.

But ballet (from Singapore, in particular) is now banned due to their costume. Errr!! 

So, what should those ‘ballerinas’ wear on stage to perform ballet?  Arab Jubas and purdahs perhaps. Again, I don't know. You tell me.

As it is we have shows on TV censored and butchered killing the whole meaning of the movie and not forgetting no F words or any of that that signals to a verbal curse.

I do know in Malaysia, more movies are banned than screened. Else why am I still waiting to view movies like Schinder’s List or even Brokeback Mountain. Pity me..hmmmm!

At the rate of stuff we ban and not show or screen foreign plays and movies on our soil, it only makes sense we move and live in caves and watch our shadows dance on the cavern rock walls and be entertained.

Try for moment and ask...by banning all these shows and movies or even documentaries, will we become decent, or grow into a well-behaved society or a recipe to send us back into the jungle.

Hey! even jungle man(Tarzan) wears an underwear..not hanging from tree to tree naked but Tarzan the movie is shown. How aaagh??
