The Budget 2013 ..sulk sulk sulk

The nation's 2013 budget announced recently was again a "people-friendly" budget. Last year and the years before it was the same - a people-friendly budget. In fact, as far as I can remember, it has been the same all the time - a people-friendly budget. In case if you're wondering, it will be the same next year and the years after if BN is still in power.

But, what's a people friendly budget? What does it really mean?

Simple. It's a pay-check to enrich those who are already rich, powerful, same race mentality, friendly with the government /party, in sync with the theories and ideologies of those who "own" the country and to those who are "brain-dead".

If the above recipients accept the budget, then the government have done their job well and able, else someone somewhere up in the higher echelons of power will get real annoyed and mad.

So year after year the same torpid budget is dished out and to the selected few their lives are fertilized with a budget spelt "goodies galore".

If you're in the selected few from the above bracket, wow ain't you one lucky bastard. Too bad I'm not in that 'sugary" list. Every year I sulk and rue reading the contents of the "people-friendly" budget. Not because it did not quench my cravings or make me an unassailable rich person but it does not serve me with any purpose. NOT EVEN A BIT. None of the announced "goodies" is ever helpful to me.

More so, some of the budget's "goodies" is never understood nor comprehensible. Again, I ain't an intelligent being so am not to know or ask. Don't get it wrong. Some are good and some are really GOOD but only to a selected few. Too bad I don't even fall into any of those categories to gain. Hmmm... SULK.

However, year after year I hope and cringe if ever what I seek will make its way into the budget list. Till now I'm still waiting. Hopefully, if the opposition party do take over the reins of governance coming the impending 2013 polls, they could least try to get my few "wanted" list into the budget. A BIG HOPE.

You may be thinking I must be one greedy goofy person trying to enrich my personal self by asking "something" I need for myself....

What I want from the "people-friendly" budget may read lame and funny but to many it may NOT.

Let me start off with :-

No. 1 MILK

Why? Milk is expensive. Toddlers and children need milk. Not just any milk from the shelf but good enriching milk. It is the building block for children. Look at our children. Many are small framed, petite, and to a good yardstick malnutritioned. If milk cost half a pay-check, what good is the "people-friendly" budget? The Government should subsidize or even absorb the exhorbitant cost of milk and deliver it free to children if they can, to the poor, the elderly and those severly lacking.

The 2013 budget had this to say :-
"Subsidy for sugar will be reduced by 20 sen effective tomorrow"

Why sugar? WHY NOT MILK? Common, look at our growing children. Many go to bed empty stomach and many never have tasted good enriching milk for proper growth.

NO. 2 BOOKS. (reading and educational)

I mean foreign imported books. Why? In Malaysia, books are bloody expensive. They are unaffordable. Why can't the government allocate a huge sum of money to reduce tax or excise duties or whatever (am no economist) to reduce the cost of foreign imported matter - books, magazines, peridocals, papers - I mean anything written in English or any other language apart from Malay? YES. This will surely make me HAPPY and GLEE.

The below was announced in the budget but it simply ain't enough - RM250 book vouchers for all students in institutions of higher learning (IPT) and at pre-university level. This will benefit 1.3 million students.

I envisage someday the Government would least try to lower "the whatever" to make imported reading materials cheaper but that day is still high up in the Himalayas, cold and dead.

The reason I say imported books, particulaly in English is this. I met a 17 year old Malay student who actually did not know the meaning of the word "tourist" and asked me rather annoyingly - "pe tu tooriz".

Speak to civil servants and you will know the state and level of learned and spoken English is in Malaysia.

Only two I ask and yet it isn't forthconming. I rest my cravings here.

And you thought I wanted a Ferrari from the budget.

Take this moment and ponder ...PLEASE

Interesting Facts about Religion we so revere

Christianity:

One Christ, One Bible, One Religion but Latin Catholics will not enter Syrian Catholics Church.
These two will not enter Marthoma Church.
These three will not enter Pentecost Church.
These four will not enter Salvation Army Church.
These five will not enter Seventh Day Adventist Church.

These six will not enter Orthodox Church.
These seven will not enter Jacobite church.
There are approximately 146 castes in Kerala...each will not go to the other's church to pray...!
So much for One Christ, One Bible, One Jehovah... What a unity!

Islam:

One Allah, One Quran, One Nabi....! And all Moslems call themselves brother and sisters.

But, the Shia and Sunni cannot see eye to eye and kill each other anywhere and everywhere.
The Shia will not go to a Sunni Mosque.
These two will not go to a Mosque.
These three will not go to a Sufi Mosque.
These four will not go to a Mujahiddin mosque...
There are 13 castes in Moslem and these brothers can't share their places of worship.
The brothers have been killing / bombing / conquering/ murdering / raping each other in the name of Islam for the last 500 years, since the day Islam existed..!
They have never been or never will be at peace with Jews or Christians
In the name of religion, yet all 3 pray to the same God.

The American attack on the Moslem land of Iraq and Afghanistan is fully supported by all Moslem countries around them!
One Allah, One Quran, One Nabi....! Great unity!
All Moslems are NOT terrorists, but all terrorists are Moslems and 60% of all victims of Moslem terrorism are Moslems.
THEY KILL THEMSELVES IN THE NAME OF RELIGION.

Hinduism

330 million Gods. Crazy.
1,280 Religious Books. Phew!
10,000 Commentaries. Ridiculous
More than one hundred thousand sub-commentaries for these foundation books.
Variety of Aacharyas.
Thousands of Rishies. One too many.
Hundreds of languages BUT every Hindu will go to the same Temple.
For the last 10,000 years and in the name of Religion, Hindus have never quarreled amongst each other.

A great testament to our existence.
All the same time let me remind all fellow Hindu brothers and sisters - what defines us is not us being a Hindu more, but how we co-exist and respect all other religions as we do ours. This is what makes us our inner temple great.

Rightfully Malaysia Day

The below is taken from a prominent blogger. I couldn't  have done any better so, with courtesy am sharing it with others...

Many parents, including mine, slogged like horses to give their children the best in life. Many parents have gone hungry so their children could eat. Many have sold their homes so their children could get a decent education. Many sacrificed basic necessities so their children could  get ahead in life. Many suffered so  their children do not have to suffer. Parents who nurture their children well are actually nurturing the nation’s future. Of course, most will not become famous, break records or win international accolades – but Malaysian parents are so, so crucial to the well being of our nation. Any parent who is committed to and bringing up their children deserve an Olympic gold medal.

There are many Malaysians who will not think twice before helping another. Thousands of Malaysians volunteer at orphanages, old folks’ homes, animal shelters, hospitals and various other charities. Every day, especially over weekends, thousands of ordinary folks make time to go and help out others. Even children go out to help others. I was once humbled when visiting an orphanage. The orphans had actually organized a charity drive to collect money to help a nearby old folks home. Of course most of these selfless Malaysians will never be featured in the front pages, appear on TV or win awards. For many of them, helping another person is simply the right thing to do. Malaysians who are always helping others deserve the Nobel Prize.

Millions of Malaysians wake up every day and go to work. Many work their butts off – slogging from morning till evening. The work they do helps our nation move forward and prosper. Factory workers who tirelessly assemble computers and make gloves prosper our nation. Farmers who tend to their paddy fields under the hot sun prosper our nation. Scientists who do their research diligently prosper our nation. Taxi drivers who ferry their passengers prosper our nation. Engineers to design and build our roads, bridges and homes prosper our nation. People who continuously strive to improve themselves, their productivity and the productivity of their organizations are heroes. Malaysians who go out every day, year in year out, giving their best in their jobs deserve a World Championship medal.

Anyone who gives their best in whatever they do is a committed Malaysian. The chef who continuously improves his ayam percik recipe is a committed Malaysian. The immigration officer who strives to improve the counter service is a committed Malaysian. The MAS stewardess who goes out of her way to ensure passenger comfort is a committed Malaysian. The journalist who burns the midnight oil producing her best report is a committed Malaysian. The scientist who literally sleeps in his lab 24/7 trying to understand the properties of our palm oil is a committed Malaysian. The greenie who fights hard to protect our tigers is a committed Malaysian. The chap who sleeps only 3 hours a day running his 24-hour mamak restaurant is a committed Malaysian for he provides a vital service and keeps our economy vibrant. Anyone who gives their best in whatever they do is a committed Malaysian and therefore deserves an Olympic medal.

Anyone who is a good neighbour is a committed Malaysian. There is always a person or a family in any neighbourhood who is an excellent neighbour. He/she is the first to welcome a newcomer to the neighbourhood. He/she is always volunteering at the residents’ association. He/she is the first to participate in neighbourhood gotong royong or family days. These are community builders. Our communities rely on people like them – without them we are just individual homes or families, not communities. The super neighbour will be the first to rush out to help in an emergency. He/she is the one who will offer to look after your house when you balik kampong. He/she always keeps an eye out for your children. He/she without fail will say hello. He/she is often the only sunshine in a neighbourhood. The super neighbour deserves an Olympic gold medal – for he/she help build our communities.

There are so many dedicated teachers in this country who deserve the credit for nurturing our youngsters. If you turned out well in life, a lot of the credit must go to your teachers. There are so many teachers who simply love their students. Teachers who go out of their way to care for, educate and nurture their pupils. Teachers who, despite their low wages and burgeoning administrative work, look after the students as though they were their own children. Teachers play such an important part in molding our nation – without them, most of us will only be fools. To all my teachers who helped to make me what I am today, you deserve the gold medal at the  World Championship.

Society always heaps praise and accolades on our sports champions, the gifted musicians, the genius artists, etc, etc. There is nothing wrong with that, they wholly deserve it. These heroes set the benchmark for the rest of us, they are our shining beacon, they become our role models. But they are only a very very very small portion of us Malaysians.

The progress and prosperity of our nation actually depends on the bulk of the ordinary committed Malaysians. The worker who gives his utmost best day in day out at what he does is a hero. The mother or father who strives to give their best for their children is a hero. The volunteer who sacrifices the limited time she has to help others is a hero. The policeman who risks his life to apprehend a criminal is a hero. The fireman who braves blazing flames to rescue others is a hero. The teacher who teaches her heart out is a hero.

We salute all committed Malaysians – for without them, the nation is nothing. It is these ordinarily committed Malaysians who turn the spoke of the nation’s wheel. It is they who make a decent life possible in this country. It is they who make Malaysia great. I hope those of you reading this article, are inspired by the dedication of the ordinarily committed Malaysians - and that you too will take up and succeed in challenges that are close to your heart.

Selamat Hari Malaysia

** There are of course nitwits, morons, racist, bigots and porcupine-heads in the country. We cannot and should not let the words and actions of these dumb few to cloud our love and dedication for the country.

About gays & lesbians ...how low is this??

I mean for not talking too much, below are the guidelines drawn out by the government for students to identify and abstain from gays and lesbians...

For gays:
  • Muscular body and a fondness for showing off the body by wearing clothing, such as by wearing V-necks and sleeveless tops
  • A preference for tight and bright coloured clothes
  • An inclination to be attracted to men
  • A tendency to carry big handbags, similar to the kinds used by women

For lesbians:
  • Showing attraction to women
  • Distancing themselves from women other than their girlfriends
  • A preference for hanging out, sleeping and dining with women
  • Absence of feelings for men
I guess this is what they do with the millions they "rob" from the rakyat.

9/11 - Leonie Benkema ...

Judge Leonie Brinkema sentenced 9/11 terrorist Zacarias Massaoui to life imprisonment.
He will be put in a "super-max" prison 100 miles south of Denver, in the middle of the desert. He will be kept in solitary confinement for 23 hours daily, locked up in a soundproofed concrete room 60ft underground, measuring 7 foot-by-12 foot.

Massaoui tried to interrupt the judge, saying he had won.
"Well, Mr. Moussaoui, if you look around this courtroom today, every person in this room when this proceeding is over will leave this courtroom, and they are free to go anyplace they want," she said. "They can go outside, they can feel the sun, they smell fresh air.
You will spend the rest of your life in a super-maximum security facility. In terms of winners and losers, it's quite clear who won and who lost.
Mr. Moussaoui, you came here to be a martyr and to die in a great big bang of glory, but to paraphrase the poet T. S. Eliot, instead you will die with a whimper.
You will never again get a chance to speak, and that is an appropriate and fair ending."

For ladies only!!

For ladies who waste money and time shopping on men's clothes for themselves .....this is a sure thing for you...
