Taxi Drivers' Rage...

Taxi drivers around the Bukit Bintang (BB), Kuala Lumpur area two days ago staged a mass protest and caused roadblocks lasting almost five hours.

Their Reason :

It seems their livelihood, their bread and butter, their daily income is being drawn away from them with the introduction of the GO-KL hop on free bus rides for locals and tourist.

Upon reading this on an independent news portal, it brought about a glint in me as I remembered an incident that made me curse the taxi driver for a service he DID NOT honour but DEMANDED a very HIGH fare for his "ripping off" service.

And for all that and more that happens, I've this to say to all taxi drivers around the BB area ...

"SERVE YOU RIGHT YOU SCUMBAGS, UNCULTURED
BARBARIC THIEVES...
PADAN MUKA"

I've no pity whatsoever for this group of transport operators who claim and demand high amounts for taxi fares. Each year the Union of Taxi Drivers pour their grouses and issues and claim their concerns aren't addressed by the Government(hopeless) of the day. Their claims are always about higher taxi fares and nothing else.

But when their plights and demands (to a certain extent) are met, these uncivilized ill-bred brutes take it to the streets with arrogance and with self-professed gangsterism. Instead of doing what they're chartered to do that is to cater the need in moving the public by way of transport with mutual agreement on fares and routes amicably, they make their own rules and cheat and "rob" from every passenger they ferry.

The below are some of what I and many other passengers have experienced from taxi drivers around BB.

1. They're by far the worst RACIST group of brutes one can ever meet in Kuala Lumpur.

2. Always on the look-out for women passengers.[to rob, steal and cheat]

3. Will only stop and ferry men when no femme, broad, chick, scantily-clad lass or any female kind isn't around to hail their cabs.

4. Uncouth behaviour. No language skills and "TO CHEAT" is whats on their mind all time, anytime.

4. Will lie to every customer of their faulty fare-meter and thus charge  manually. Metered taxis are often tempered.

5. Many are young school drop-outs who flagrantly abuse passengers who negotiate on they "proposed" fares. Some of drug addicts as well.

6. Rob passengers at knife-point.

7. Poke and ridicule passengers who refuse their service. Abuse them with foul language and denigrate with racial-slurs.

8. They behave as thugs and many belong to Chinese triads.

9. When you hail them, will IGNORE you if you're on the wrong side of the road.

10. Bully and create a nuisance and nightmare to tourist.

11. Cases of rapes and murders have sufficed.

12. Claim they're poor and needy but will willingly wait and hang out wasting their time by the roadsides teasing and poking fun at people.

13. Will never negotiate if they know you can afford it.

14. Will charge you 5 times the amount if you are new and raw.

15. They smoke in air-conditioned taxis.

16. No respect for other road users nor pedestrians ...and many more.

If you're a tourist and need a cab in Kuala Lumpur, the below are some dos and don'ts...

DO NOT hail any cab to get to your destination. Take the bus or train. They may be a bit slower but will get you there safe and cheap.

Always when in doubt seek guide and help from the locals. (cab drivers are locals too but DO NOT ASK THEM FOR ANY HELP)

If you know well around the city, from your negotiation, you would know the cab driver is in the mood to fleece you. Don't engage with such cab drives.

At wits end if you need a taxi, always negotiate the fare before you board. If any untoward incident happens, jot down the taxi's registration number and time and if you have a camera/phone, take a snap of the taxi. Then report it to the police. Do NOT be afraid of doing this. The cab driver will know you ain't no jackass to mess with.

If you hail a cab and the fees are too high for you, just say NO and quickly walk away. Do NOT look back at the cab driver. IGNORE the driver completely.

Cab drivers in Kuala Lumpur are well connected. Before you get to the other side of town they would know who you're and where you're heading.

Its been more than 10 years I last hailed a cab in Kuala Lumpur. When not driving I take the bus or trains.

NEVER A CAB EVER.

The less we patronize them the more they will grow out of their stupidity.

** In all my time living and working in the city, there has been only 1 cabbie who went out of his way to take me to a place I haven't been. And he refused to accept his fare but I paid him more than what the meter showed, wholeheartedly.
