“I would be echoing the sentiments of the great majority of Indians in Malaysia when I say they are effectively second class citizens under Umno’s rule.”
I don’t and can’t agree.
Indians are not second class citizens. Indians are always Indians. They live in a land called India four hours flight from Malaysia. The ‘Indians’ here are Hindus or Malaysians. They should address themselves as such unless they fancy associating themselves with bigots. This learned politician doesn’t seem to know left from right. The Hindus here in Malaysia are irrelevant citizens. That’s how he should have said.
“The Indians have traditionally looked to the civil service for employment but in the last few decades they have seen their share of public sector jobs severely curtailed. Too many Indians have to eke out a harsh living outside the comfort of the government service and the GLCs.”
In the first place, I don’t understand why Hindus in Malaysia should even look at the Government for jobs. In spite being marginalised and ostracized, Malaysian Hindus should know better they are irrelevant to the Government except on Polls day. This is why the majority of Hindus here are lost, aimless and wandering subjects. They don’t get respect, racially abused, deemed stupid and obtuse but vehemently believe the Government of the day need them. To address this problem, Hindraf should have mobilised itself some 30 years ago when the degradation started.
“The NEP introduced in 1970 and which has set the direction of the nation ever since was designed to:
a) restructure society so that race is no longer identified with occupation, and
b) eradicate poverty irrespective of race/ ethnicity”
Why talk about NEP? Why talk about something totally the opposite of HELP. Who needs a three letter abbreviation that spells irrelevant? Countless efforts have been put forth to stamp out basic domestic problems of Hindus but did any of those grow relevant? Almost all fell futile. All plans and schemes good ever devised by the UMNO government for any third class mentality citizen were only in the favour of the Masters who presided over them. It was NEVER meant to help to eradicate anything under a) and b) from the above.
And within the Hindu party in Malaysia, what kind of a President would sit at the helm in a party for donkey years and dictate when he should have vacated the seat after two or three terms.
If one is honest and prevalent to the cause, one should get down to the roots and take the bull by its horns. Instead, they sit at the helm and dictate dim mantras. More so in the wake of all oblivion and in limbo, Hindus flock to one race party doctrine promised heaven with honey. All they get are roller-coaster rides. Even learned ones got duped too. Many till now have yet to wake up to the disease eating them alive. Easily said, many came to join to only enrich themselves. If one is truly impartial and need to help the plague eating any second or third class citizen in Malaysia today, one should move away from what’s making them slave. But they stick like leech listening to wayward gospels befitting donkeys. Many are still squatting and enriching themselves by calling themselves “the only Indian who can help Hindus.”
“The pathetic state of the Tamil schools”
What good are Tamil Schools? What can they possibly teach? Which organisation, company, establishment or even the government of Malaysia need Tamil educated Malaysians? To say it out succinctly, is there any who have benefitted by employing Tamil educated scholars? Maybe you would say Angkasapuri… but have you seen the Tamil desk at Angkasapuri? Goshh!!!!!
Malaysian Indians are still waging war with state governments over the dispute of land for Tamil schools. I wonder why they do this when there are better national type schools for their kids to go to. Education in Malaysia ain't an industry for one to choose and decide which school is better. After 50 or so years of independence, sorry to say, we are still lacking in quality education. But instead, the Hindus here take it to the streets and picket over the lost of land and what-nots for Tamil or vernacular schools. If at all one needs to wage war on the street, do it for better reasons and not over a puny land and building issue. What good is a Tamil school when none gives Tamil as one of the oldest language in the world its due respect? Tamil or any vernacular subject SHOULD be part of the national education curiculum. Even this the basic we can't get it right and we have street picket over something isn't worth fighting for.
"This potent combination of poor infrastructure and teacher shortage is a definite recipe for the high failure rate of Tamil school students. Tamil schools are a neglected lot and the BN must be held responsible by all Indian voters.
Time again and again the blame card is herald at the National Front (BN). Why? How more oblivious are you Mr Politician? Should BN or the UMNO Government be solely responsible for the ignorance of Hindus here? What is the Malaysian Indian Congress doing? Are they not the mouth piece for all the Malaysian Indians? When the very machinery of the Government took onus to help 2nd class citizens as you said, wash hands, what can the the Hindus do? Hindraf is now banned but think of the reason why they had to come about in the first place. I believe My Politician, you should know better then anyone. Why aren’t the super-rich Hindus in Malaysia helping? Did you ever ask yourself that?
“Prior to the implementation of the NEP in 1970, Indians were well represented in the civil service. The lop-sided implementation of the NEP has decimated the Indian numbers in the civil service.”
Rubbish. Malaysian Hindus were never well represented in the Government ever. Not before, not now and not ever.
“For instance, there is not a single Indian judge in the Federal Court. The BN government must look into an Equal Opportunity Commission & an Equal Opportunity Act to redress the gross imbalance among the races in the Government service. Citizens denied citizenship”
Truly funny and amusing. When one can’t even get a job with tertiary education, you talk about promotions and an Indian judge in Federal Court. Shouldn’t you be addressing the root of the problem you just voiced out? Your argument is aimless. The saying, shoot for the moon and if you miss you will land on some star. Yes, its true in the prefect world but Malaysia isn’t and can never be even half that perfect.
“Almost 300,000 Indians who are eligible for citizenship do not have MyKads. They are children born to citizen parents whose births were not registered for one reason or another. In a nutshell, they have been denied citizenship due to a government bureaucracy that is callous to their plight. Many dreams have been shattered, jobs and careers foregone and households mired in poverty due to citizenship denied.”
Wow! That’s a whole lot of citizenship to be granted to irrelevant citizens. Need to? Why should even the Malaysian Government care? It’s not and never their problem. Still you are aiming aimlessly.
“Indians have the highest unemployment rate among the major races in the country. The neglect of the Tamil schools means it ill-prepares the students for secondary school and beyond. Many Indian students lack the linguistic and numerical skills needed for today’s job market.”
Nope…don’t agree. Malaysian Indians are not all that slow or draggy. Almost all Malaysian Indians know it’s an otiose effect to their ‘big’ dreams. When dreams get shattered for no apparent reason, none, not a single human would want to hang on to the same dream. In this case it should be all about getting and acquiring a proper education as primary and everything else secondary.
Moreover, Indians do not have access to skills training institutes like GiatMara, polytechnics, Mara Training Institutes, vocational schools and numerous other training institutes’ set-up with public money at the state and national levels. Certainly, there is a lack of concerted action by the BN government to train and equip Indian youths with the necessary job skills.
Why should the Government take risk and relinquish Malay dominant chances of being technical skilled? Isn’t the manifesto of the Government clear enough to understand? The Malays are poor and lacking in skills and education, so until and unless they reach the standard of the other races, all opportunities for other races have to wait even if it takes another 63,876,542,931,084 hundred thousand million years.
“As a result, the majority resort to the private sector. With low levels of education and absence of marketable skills, they are forced to work as lorry drivers, road sweepers, dishwashers, free-lance house maids, cleaners, despatch clerks, personal drivers, etc. These jobs are shunned by the other races because of the low pay, long working hours and physical risks involved. The situation has got so bad that Indians are forced to compete with foreigners for these very jobs.”
Isn’t it better. Someone needs to do the dirty job. It’s still a job and pays. Since Malaysian Indians take fancy associating themselves with Indians…why not in solidarity join them in sweeping drains, clean gutter and sewage pipes, cut grass and do all dirty jobs. The government brings Indians here to do such jobs, so join them. When you make yourself known as mudbloods, then do what mudbloods do. Simple. Learn to shoot that arrow straight Mr. Politician.
“For some time now, the BN has used the Batu Caves Sri Subramaniam Swamy Temple for political capital. The temple committee played a pivotal role in the arrest of the Nov 25, 2007 Hindraf rally supporters who had gathered at the temple grounds on the eve of the historic event.”
BN says the condo project will be scrapped if BN wins Selangor in the coming Polls. Just let BN win. Simple. And you can keep Batu Caves forever. The mere fact Batu Caves's issue is dictated by non-indians is an exemplary example of what this nation is made of - the Malays the masters and all else cuckoo dumbasses. hahahahaha...
Vedic teachings tell us that a temple is a sacred place where one goes for peace of mind and to commune with the Almighty. But MIC and its cohorts have reduced Batu Caves to a political pawn to wage war against its political rivals. We must stop them from this sacrilege.
Vedic teachings are outdated and Indians should do away with all that retro gospel. If at all one needs all that, keep it home tutored.
“We see a racist agenda in demonising Indian leaders who choose to stand out and fight for our rights. S Ambiga, Dr Xavier Jeyakumar and P Uthayakumar have all been labelled unilaterally as enemies of the nation by Umno and the BN. This is done surreptitiously by pro-Umno blogs and the mainstream media as well as other radical organisations which are funded by Umno and enjoy the tacit approval of the top BN leadership.MIC, the BN designated representative of the Indians chooses to play mute, so as not to offend its political master.”
Of course! What else you expect them to do? These leaders on any given day could garner a crowd more potent than any stadium could accommodate. UMNO can never do that. So, they instil fear and with that comes the price of intimidation and threats.
