Star - KIC 8462852 |
KIC 8462852 is in the constellation of Cygnus. It's approximately 1,480 light-years from Earth - that's if you travel at light speed or at least close to the speed of light, it'll take you like a thousand 480 years to reach KIC 8462852 or Tabby's Star ( named after its discoverer - Dr. Tabetha S. Boyajian )
What could be happening or surrounding this distant star? Alien mega structure? Comets? Giant dust clouds or space debris or even a possible Dyson Sphere (an hypothetical mega structure encompassing a star).
This could be a major break-thru' in answering an age old question of man - are we alone in this Universe?
I'm just a small-time astronomy aficionado tho' my interest in the field of astronomy has always been 'a priority hobby' and just like all the astronomers and stargazers out there, be it professional or amateur, I'm equally excited to know what lurks around KIC 8462852.
Foot note: Speed of Light. (SL)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SL = 299,792,458 meters per second
or
SL = 671,000,000 miles p/hour (approx)
