MEX Highway...

Have you travelled on the Cyberjaya-Putaraya highway? The toll fee is RM3.60 from one end to the other. This stretch of road is well paced and neatly built. It is an eye-pleasing designed highway especially if you're driving during the last few sunshine minutes before dusk.

Vast jungle land were cleared to make way for the 6 lanes MEX highway. Driving up this stretch of the road will make you feel driving as a pleasant pastime that is if you're careful and a contentious driver. In fact, it is so safe, you can pull down your windshields and with one hand on the steering wheel, a cell phone plugged into your ear, turn your radio on loud and drive without any concern. Heck! you can even tie your shoelaces or prolly yawn simultaneously. Well! that's how safe this stretch is...so to speak but don't be fooled by this statement.

By any standards, this stretch of road is nowhere near compared to the craziness of the Federal Highway traffic. During peak hours, there aren't much cars seen on the road except for those from Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

Neatly tugged away, there lies a grim truth. MEX highway, though quiet and lovely, comes with a deadly price-tag. It is a killer highway. Believe it or not.

ACCIDENTS!!

Accidents do occur on this stretch but one wonders how is that so. You may shudder looking at the impact of the accidents taking place on this MEX freeway. You would begin to realize its all too bizarre when you look and analyse the impact and the casualties.

I cannot guess as to how some of these accidents take place and if you look at it, you may even ask - How can a Kancil overturn driving into the Seri Kembangan Rest Place? How fast can one drive into a rest place anyway?

SCENE 1. ( me as eye-witness.)
1. A Kancil turned turtle (upside down) along the road leading to the rest-place. Even a lorry would not turn turtle when you need to drive like a turtle to a rest place. How is it this Kancil was found turtled in the ditch few meters from the rest place. Absolute bizarre.

SCENE 2.
A Proton Perdana facing and slowly coming towards me when it should be on the other side of the highway. Eerkk! How in the world can such a thing happen?
* I managed to sway away from hitting the Proton.

SCENE 3.
A 10 wheeler lorry broken into half with its head in the ditch and the tail section overturned and sprawled along the highway. Could this be speeding? Hmmm! If speeding, how can a lorry break into two when it did not hit any other vehicle.

SCENE 4.
There I was driving to work when I heard a loud noise. I looked into my rear mirror to see a 5 series new BWM travelling on the extreme right (fast lane) had burst its tyres. Another eerrkkk! WEIRD.

SCENE 5.
Wild dogs are aplenty along the highway but I've yet to see one knocked down by the speeding vehicles. Even grass-cutters in orange-fluorescent suits go about their way and I've yet to see one get knocked down.

What causes these accidents?

There has been talks, during the construction of this Highway, crazy and freaky accidents have taken place. I can't relay any of those incidents as I don't have any valid proof.

But one thing I DO KNOW. I am a frequent traveller on this stretch and I do know this stretch of road from Bukit Jalil to Cyberjaya is not 'alone'. I and many road users of these stretch believe there are entities or unsettled souls haunting these roads. Again I can't proof this.

More to come...Lim Kok Wing...stay tuned.
