Taxi n English!!....

A recent spat brewed up when a Minister was quoted saying “our taxis are far worse than our toilets.”  In many ways that’s true. Not only taxis are now like toilets, taxi drivers do smell and behave like toilets too.
Before I get to the point of this blog, lemme just give some pointers here on the above statement:-
1.   Does the Minister know... aggh... how really bad our toilets are? Sure or not?
2.   Why is it anything synonymous with bad, dirty, screwed up and what-not is always compared to Malaysian toilets? Nice tourism paraphrase.
3.   Even toilets in government buildings fare no better. Have you visited one?
So, I guess the Mr/Miss/Mrs Minister is somewhat right in comparing toilets with taxis, with education, with people, with race, with the Opposition or even with Parliament. Will this minister compare the toilet with him/her self?
Now let’s get back to what I really wanted to say here...still about taxis.
From the Star daily recently:
“The statement by Nazri is extreme and we (taxi drivers) from the Klang Valley unequivocally agree that Nazri must apologise openly”.
When I read the above, I ask myself: Did these taxi driver(s) actually say the above and too with the word ‘unequivocally’.
If they really did, wonder why they drive taxis and not teach English.
And, I’d like to hear them say “unequivocally” without twisting their tongue.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Malaysian press lies more then it prints.
