From its inception, ASTRO was nice and cozy. Being the first and sole cable network, many a Malaysian became couch potatoes and stayed glued to the idiot box from dawn till dawn.
But alas, now ASTRO isn’t all that ASTRO after all. It's now shortchanging its customers with a fee hike showing the same old rerun programmes. Many are outdated too.
Sports, football especially, is the biggest crowd puller in ASTRO. Huge amounts of money are greedily paid to buy over the sporting rights thus denying other TV stations from getting a pie of the a lion's share.
This isn’t fair to those who can’t afford cable TV and to those who still have to put up with their dogmatic trust on the good old TV programmes from Angkasapuri.
ASTRO now single-handedly monopolizes every mainstream sporting and entertainment industry. And now with the hiked subscription fees, viewers are also made to watch commercials as well.
Why do we have to pay to watch commercials?
ASTRO replied saying its the commercials that keeps them afloat.
And one lame half-wit has the swank to say, "If you don’t like close your TV la.”
Many disgruntled subscribers for countless times have called in to ASTRO and placed their complains. Many were ignored and crudely told off by the rude bastards manning the call – centres.
They’re many entertainment billionaire moguls out there. Why should there only be ASTRO? What has come about of the other cable TV networks?
Competition is healthy. But it gets nasty and ugly when competition is deemed one sided. It's akin to pitting a hyena against a rabbit.
Undoubtedly yes – ASTRO does show good entertaining and educational programmers but to how frequent or often.
Though billionaire Ananda is at the helm, somehow, I would like to believe ASTRO is a spinoff for the better greed of humans.
How does one now spell greed - A S T R O .
